While it’s no longer required to eat them in months with “r” in the name, fall temperatures still get us prepared for oysters.
Our Baked Oysters Bienville or Oysters Rockefeller made with oysters from Bon Secour Fisheries are a great way to start a meal. Another favorite is the golden fried oysters, also cooked with Bon Secour oysters.
Bon Secour Fisheries dates to 1896 when a Danish immigrant named Frank Nelson started the business as a family-run oyster house on Oyster Bay. He used a 50-foot schooner as an oyster dredge boat. In 1935, his son, John A. Nelson moved the business to the Bon Secour River.
Bon Secour prides itself on providing high-quality seafood and purchases oysters from reputable state-certified producers. They shuck and pack the oysters onsite in a facility that meets high standards.
We’re proud to serve oysters from Bon Secour Fisheries at Nolan’s Restaurant. Come by this fall to enjoy a delicious appetizer or entree.
