What seafood is in season this fall?

We are heading into one of our favorite seasons on the Alabama Gulf Coast. That’s right. It’s fall. And with fall comes October, National Seafood Month.

Amberjack, grouper, scamp, flounder, wahoo and king mackerel are all among the fish that can be caught off our shores this time of year. Each taste delicious – whether fried, broiled or baked, though many people find grouper to be the tastiest of those fish.

In addition to being a great time of year for those fish, it’s also the beginning of oyster season. Both blue crab and shrimp continue to be caught fresh in the fall.

At Nolan’s, our chef and kitchen staff have found plenty of wonderful, delicious ways to prepare all those seafood favorites. Baked Oysters Rockefeller and Oysters Bienville are two ways we serve those delicious Bon Secour oysters. Get your crab meat fix with our Lump Crab Cakes or crab meat served as a fine finish to a steak. You can also order soft shell crabs, lightly fried and topped with shrimp and crab sauce.

As for that delicious, fresh grouper? Have it Greek-style, Mediterranean-style or fried, broiled, blackened or grilled. We also serve whole flounder fried or broiled.

Hungry yet for fresh Gulf seafood? Come see us this fall when you make a beach getaway to Gulf Shores.
